Concentration
Full presence in the moment of riding — no phone, no daydreaming, no autopilot.
What is it
Concentration is the state of full mental presence while riding. You see the road, monitor traffic, feel the motorcycle, process information. Without concentration, you're on autopilot — and any surprise becomes a crash.
How it works
The brain has limited attention resources. If you're thinking about work, listening to a podcast, or fatigued — those resources are consumed. Nothing remains for hazard detection. Research shows even hands-free phone calls reduce reaction time by 40%.
How to practice
- Before riding — do a mental «switch»: now I'm riding, everything else can wait
- Don't ride fatigued — fatigue equals impaired riding in terms of reaction
- Every 1-1.5 hours — stop and stretch
- If you catch yourself on autopilot — stop, rest, reset
