Ego Riding
Riding to impress others or prove yourself — one of the leading causes of fatal crashes.
What is it
Ego riding is when you ride not to get from A to B safely, but to impress, show off, or prove something. Speeding, aggressive overtaking, public wheelies, racing strangers — all ego-driven behaviors.
How it works
Ego shuts down rational thinking. Adrenaline and dopamine from risk create a feeling of invincibility. «It won't happen to me» — the classic illusion. Statistics don't care about ego: young males 18-35 are the highest risk category precisely because of ego riding.
How to practice
- Be honest: who are you trying to impress? Friends? A random driver? Yourself?
- The coolest thing on a motorcycle — living to retirement age and still riding
- Want adrenaline? Go to the track — it's safe and genuinely fast
- Remember: the cemetery is full of «cool» motorcyclists
