Future Theater
Mentally running "what if" scenarios — anticipating events seconds before they happen.
What is it
Future theater is the habit of constantly running «what if» scenarios in your head. What if that car turns? What if a pedestrian steps out from behind the bus? What if the road around the corner is wet? You «see» possible futures and prepare your response in advance.
How it works
The brain can process multiple scenarios simultaneously when you train this skill. Instead of reacting to what has already happened, you prepare action plans for what MIGHT happen. When something occurs, you already have a ready response. Reaction time shrinks dramatically.
How to practice
- At every intersection: «What if that car doesn't stop?»
- Behind every blocker: «What if a pedestrian steps out?»
- Before every corner: «What if there's gravel on the road?»
- Regular practice makes this automatic — and you become faster than the situation
